About the role#
ABS interns join our business operations to gain experience in engineering review, technical problem solving, and research and development. You will work with a designated advisor to build skills related to our core business while assisting with key deliverables. Expect to manage multiple projects across your department during the term. You will work on-site at our corporate headquarters in Spring, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering and technical plan reviews to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
- Conduct research and product development projects.
- Assist with operational safety evaluations and data science initiatives.
- Provide engineering support through design review and analysis.
- Communicate workload status to your team to meet client needs.
- Propose technical advice to field operations and recommend new approaches to engineering problems.
- Assist with the development of business performance metrics and monitor operating results.
- Write and present technical papers and reports.
- Contribute to rule development projects.
- Collaborate with the digital team and other departments on data collection and quality improvement.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student in an accredited university pursuing a BS or MS degree in Ocean/Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Civil Structures, or Electrical Systems.
- Completion of at least 50 semester hours toward your degree.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Basic engineering knowledge.
- A valid US driver's license.
- Proficiency in Excel and AutoCAD is preferred.
- A satisfactory driving record is preferred.

- Location: Spring, Texas.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January through February).
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Note: Housing and a vehicle are provided for interns not based in the Houston area.
