About the role#
Amazon Leo is a low Earth orbit satellite network designed to provide internet connectivity to locations currently without access. As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will own the lifecycle of your code from initial design through deployment and operation. You will be matched with a manager and mentor to guide your work on critical projects that influence our services and customers.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and operate services that solve complex, ambiguous problems.
- Write clean, maintainable code while working in an agile environment with CI/CD principles.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and participate in technical discussions.
- Use GenAI and AI-powered tools to improve development productivity while validating AI-generated output.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
- Manage operational responsibilities, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
- Expected degree conferral date between October 2027 and September 2029.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Experience with a general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
- Proficiency in data structure implementation, algorithm development, and object-oriented design.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings.
- Minimum of one quarter, semester, or trimester of study remaining after the internship concludes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, ownership, and the ability to learn new technologies quickly.
- Preferred experience includes previous technical internships, Cloud platforms, database systems, version control, or open-source contributions.

- Location: Redmond, Washington, USA.
- Terms: Summer 2027, Winter 2027, or Fall 2027.
- Duration: 12 weeks maximum.
- Commitment: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Paid internship.
