About the role#
AltaGas is looking for a Data Science and Analytics Co-op Student to join our Operations Planning and Analysis team. You will support budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and reporting initiatives. This role involves working with operational, workforce, and financial data to help business leaders make informed decisions. You will collaborate with teams in Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Corporate to turn information into business insights.
What you'll do#
- Support the maintenance, validation, and enhancement of Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Create visualizations, summaries, and presentations for leadership teams.
- Assist in identifying and investigating reporting discrepancies and data quality issues.
- Maintain reporting documentation, business definitions, and data dictionaries.
- Help prepare recurring operational and management reporting packages.
- Support annual budgeting and long-range planning processes.
- Maintain planning templates and perform variance analysis.
- Track workforce and headcount data while analyzing vacancy trends and metrics.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary degree program in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, MIS, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, specifically Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data validation.
- Experience with Power BI, dashboard development, or similar analytics platforms.
- Analytical and critical-thinking skills to identify trends and patterns.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
