About the role#
This IT Technical Support Co-op position is based in the Information Technology department at ALMAG Aluminum. You will report to the Director of Technology and serve as the primary point of contact for employees needing technical assistance. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Fall 2026 term, with a preference for candidates available for an 8 or 12 month placement.
What you'll do#
- Provide first-level technical support for all users regarding hardware, software, and business systems.
- Manage incoming helpdesk tickets, ensuring they are resolved, assigned, or escalated as needed.
- Support core infrastructure services, including network connectivity, system access, and application troubleshooting.
- Set up new users by preparing hardware, accounts, and phone systems.
- Monitor client networks for alerts and errors.
- Assist with IT documentation and various departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary degree or diploma program in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Microsoft operating systems, network security, and connectivity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 25lbs.
- Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
- Experience with IT hardware and business applications, along with certifications like A+, ITIL, or CCNA, are considered assets.
