About the role#
Allegion is seeking a Summer 2027 Intern to join the Research and Software Solutions team. This full-time, paid internship focuses on digital user experience research and design. You will work alongside our global product teams to assist in research efforts throughout the product design life cycle. This position is based in Carmel, Indiana, and follows a hybrid work model.
What you'll do#
- Assist in research and design efforts throughout the product design life cycle.
- Document user needs and facilitate generative research.
- Test design concepts with internal resources and external customers.
- Collaborate with the UX team to develop research that informs user personas and journey maps.
- Conduct quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews.
- Execute research tasks including participant recruitment and plan development.
- Present findings to cross-functional teams.
- Support the creation of design deliverables such as user flows, journey maps, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with product and development teams to understand concept feasibility and support design hand-offs.
What you'll need#
- At least Junior standing in a post-secondary school.
- Major in User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Social Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- A portfolio showcasing research abilities, user needs, success metrics, and learnings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze research data and identify actionable insights.
- Familiarity with current research tools, methods, trends, and technology.
- Solid grasp of Design Thinking principles and UI layout concepts.
- Experience with remote testing and facilitation tools like Maze and MS Teams.
- Knowledge of modern digital design and prototyping tools such as Figma.
- Background in research methods including contextual inquiry, user interviews, persona and journey map development, heuristic analysis, card sorting, usability and desirability studies, and quantitative surveys.
