About the role#
The Manufacturing Process Engineer Summer Intern will join a team supporting the daily operations of a high-mix commercial door lock manufacturing facility in Colorado Springs. This role provides early career experience and the chance to apply engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to improvement projects to reach financial productivity goals.
- Develop and improve mixed-model assembly processes.
- Assist with the creation of process documentation for manufacturing operations.
- Design basic mechanical components and assemblies for work holding and fixturing.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process failures.
- Assist in the requisition and installation of capital equipment.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety and quality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering degree program.
- Mechanical design aptitude.
- Experience with PTC Creo or equivalent solid modeling software.
- Ability to manage your own time and work effectively under constraints.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build internal customer relationships.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with data collection, analysis, and interpretation to inform decisions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
