About the role#
The Manufacturing Process Engineer Summer Intern will join a team of Manufacturing Engineers in Colorado Springs. This role supports the daily operations of a high-mix commercial door lock manufacturing facility. You will gain early career experience by applying engineering principles to real-world problems. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to improvement projects focused on financial productivity goals.
- Assist in the development and improvement of mixed-model assembly processes.
- Create and update process documentation for manufacturing operations.
- Design basic mechanical components and assemblies for work holding and fixturing.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process failures on the floor.
- Support capital equipment requisition and installation.
- Identify new opportunities for safety and quality improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering degree program.
- Mechanical design aptitude and experience with PTC Creo or equivalent solid modeling software.
- Effective data collection, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work within resource constraints.
- Strong teamwork and customer-relation skills.
