About the role#
Alcon is hiring interns for the 2027 Summer Internship Program. This role offers the chance to gain industry experience and contribute to projects in chemistry, materials science, and life sciences. You will work alongside professionals to build technical skills while receiving mentorship and coaching.
What you'll do#
- Conduct laboratory experiments to support chemistry research, materials characterization, formulation development, and data analysis.
- Design, synthesize, purify, and characterize polymers for contact-lens materials and lens-care products.
- Develop analytical methods or new measurement capabilities for ophthalmic products.
- Process ocular tissue samples and support fluorometric assays, immunoassays, and molecular or diagnostic analyses.
- Support GMP pharmaceutical R&D activities related to clinical manufacturing processes, equipment, facilities, and implantable drug-delivery products.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university or college for at least one semester before and one semester after the internship.
- Pursuit of a bachelor degree or higher in chemistry, polymer/materials science, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or pharmaceutical science.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8/4.0.
- Ability to commit to a 10 to 12 week, full-time internship of 40 hours per week.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
