About the role#
As a Financial Officer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in agricultural finance and lending. You will work alongside our team to support customers and participate in the daily operations of our office. This internship is a full-time, 12-week commitment during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Learn general office procedures and assist with promotional activities.
- Input annual financial data from customers and analyze their financial position.
- Conduct credit verifications with lenders and credit references.
- Promote our services through public activities.
- Complete assigned special projects.
- Observe marketing, sales, and prospecting calls.
- Shadow the team during new loan applications, renewals, and loan closings.
- Work with an appraiser to understand real estate and chattel appraisal requirements.
- Travel to Omaha, NE for three specific events including orientation, a mid-summer session, and a closing event.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelors or master’s degree in Ag Business, Accounting, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Proven leadership abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A genuine interest in learning about ag finance, credit, and lending.

- This role is based in Watertown, South Dakota.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid internship that includes a sign-on bonus and travel coverage for required events.
