About the role#
This position offers hands-on training for students pursuing a career as a mechanic. You will balance on-site work at the dealership with a two-year associate degree through an accredited John Deere TECH program. The goal is to prepare you for a full-time service mechanic role by developing your technical skills and understanding of dealership operations.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training at a John Deere Tech School.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and learn to perform diagnostics.
- Obtain certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service ADVISOR training.
- Document all repairs and diagnostic work on assigned work orders.
- Handle the removal, disassembly, and reconditioning of equipment components.
- Perform pre-delivery set-up and inspections on new equipment.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area while following all safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs repeatedly.
- An adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain the minimum required GPA for the program.
- Interest in learning repair techniques for off-road, construction, and heavy equipment.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
