About the role#
African Communities Together is seeking candidates for Skadden and Equal Justice Works public interest law fellowships starting in Fall 2027. This is a two-year, full-time fellowship position based in the Maryland office with a hybrid work schedule. Successful applicants will work with the organization to develop a project proposal that aligns with the mission of supporting African immigrants through legal interventions. There is a potential for conversion to a permanent position based on organizational needs.
What you'll do#
- Respond to emerging community needs through legal interventions and propose projects that impact African communities.
- Provide direct client services and community education.
- Engage in advocacy and pro bono involvement.
- Leverage impact litigation to address systemic barriers and inequities.
- Develop new service models that advance equity and identify opportunities for inter-agency collaboration.
What you'll need#
- Status as a rising third-year law student or recent law school graduate.
- Eligibility for fellowship programs such as Skadden and Equal Justice Works.
- Passion for the mission of African Communities Together and a dedication to advancing social, racial, and economic justice.
- Ability to develop comprehensive project proposals that address immigration and community needs.
Location & details#
- Location: Silver Spring, Maryland.
- Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Two-year fellowship beginning in Fall 2027.
- Compensation: The baseline salary is $70,000, with additional compensation negotiable based on experience.

The group focuses on social integration, economic advancement, and political advocacy for the African immigrant diaspora in the United States.
