About the role#
Aerotech offers Mechanical Engineering internship and co-op opportunities across several departments, including Mechanical R&D, Engineered Solutions, Mechatronics, and Manufacturing Engineering. You will work on precision positioning systems alongside experienced engineers and a peer group of interns. This role provides hands-on training and the chance to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform detailed mechanical design, create drawings, and manage documentation for parts and assemblies.
- Characterize error motions in positioning systems using metrology equipment like laser interferometers and accelerometers.
- Use frequency response methods and vibration test equipment to analyze the dynamic performance of closed-loop servomechanisms.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve manufacturing process issues.
- Collect, analyze, and present data using various software tools for both formal and informal settings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Experience with at least one 3D solid modeling package is preferred.
- Experience with at least one technical programming language is preferred.
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

- This position is based on-site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- This is a paid, full-time role with a rolling term.
