Pharmacy Intern I - West Allis

About the role#

This is a part-time Pharmacy Intern I position located at Aurora Medical Center West Allis. The role supports pharmacy operations under the general supervision of a pharmacist. This position requires a commitment of 8 hours per week, with a schedule that includes every other weekend, rotating holidays, and a rotation between 1st shift (6:30am–3:00pm) and 2nd shift (2:30pm–11:00pm).

What you'll do#

• Perform pharmacy technician duties, including filling medication orders, delivering medications, and compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations.
• Interview patients to obtain medication histories.
• Receive and interpret outpatient prescriptions, entering them into the pharmacy computer system.
• Manage clerical tasks to ensure efficient pharmacy operations, including medication ordering, receipt, stocking, and inventory control.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff and management to maintain a cooperative hospital work environment.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Current enrollment in the 1st year of an accredited College of Pharmacy.
• Current Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician registration.
• Proficient computer skills and strong analytical, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, and pushing mobile carts weighing approximately 50 pounds, as well as lifting up to 35 pounds.
