About the role#

This position is open to current students or recent graduates of the Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS). You will work in a clinical setting at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, assisting the nursing team with direct patient care and support tasks. This is a part-time role requiring 16-20 hours per week, specifically for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM). Weekend and holiday rotations are required.

What you'll do#

• Assist Registered Nurses with daily patient care, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
• Measure and document vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, intake and output, and daily weights in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Support the admission, transfer, and discharge process by setting up rooms and managing patient belongings.
• Perform purposeful rounding and communicate patient needs or concerns to the nursing staff.
• Assist with patient positioning, transferring, and transporting using proper techniques and assistive devices.
• Maintain nursing area supplies, clean equipment, and complete errands such as delivering trays, charts, and specimens.
• Follow infection prevention protocols, including hand hygiene and proper disposal of contaminated materials.

What you'll need#

• Must be currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS).
• Active status as a Nurse Aide in good standing with the Wisconsin State Registry.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA) must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care and growth and development principles.

• Location: Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Part-time, 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), 16-20 hours per week.
• Requirements: Weekend and holiday rotation required.
