About the role#
Advanced Energy is hiring an Electrical Engineer Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Redwood City, California. You will join a core engineering team to develop high-performance power conversion and control solutions. This role is open to students currently pursuing an MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Participate in core team activities to meet project schedules, cost targets, and customer requirements.
- Develop, test, and debug prototype power supply units.
- Design analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits.
- Analyze test data and reports to ensure products meet functional and performance specifications.
- Develop and implement control algorithms.
- Design and analyze magnetic components.
- Model and simulate systems using proprietary or commercial software tools.
- Coordinate with internal departments to maintain project timelines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an MS or Ph.D. program for Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Experience working in a lab environment debugging circuits and verifying product specifications.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities without direct supervision.
- Familiarity with CAD tools for schematics, modeling, and simulation.
- Knowledge of serial communication protocols like UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Experience with firmware programming for embedded systems.
- Proficiency with Windows platforms and MS Office Suite.
