About the role#
The ACLU of Massachusetts is hiring for a Summer 2027 Legal Internship. This is a paid, full-time position for law students. You will work with the legal department on litigation and advocacy projects. The internship lasts 10 to 12 weeks with a 40-hour work week.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and write memos.
- Draft complaints, affidavits, and discovery requests.
- Prepare pretrial motions and assist with trial preparation.
- Draft appellate briefs.
- Help the Legislative Director develop testimony for hearings and policy materials.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current law student who will finish your second year before the internship starts.
- Strong skills in legal research, writing, and analysis.
- A clear interest in civil rights, civil liberties, and social justice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well with colleagues and partners at all levels of the organization.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- The schedule is hybrid, requiring you to be in the office an average of three days per week.
- You must reside in Massachusetts or within a 60-mile radius of Boston in a contiguous New England state during the internship.
- This position requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
