About the role#
This internship provides practical experience within the automation machinery manufacturing industry. Reporting to the Continuous Improvement Manager, you will work on projects designed to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety. This position is a full-time, paid opportunity for Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and safety.
- Collect and analyze data for time studies, workflow optimization, and root cause investigations.
- Participate in Kaizen events and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to implement process changes.
- Design tools, fixtures, or layouts using CAD software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Document findings and present recommendations to the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Chemical, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Environmental Engineering, or Business Administration.
- Ability to think critically to analyze complex situations and develop strategic solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills for sharing information and project updates with team members.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Selmer, Tennessee.
- Work Modality: On-site or hybrid.
- Compensation: $20 to $34 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and graduation year.
- Requirements: Interns must have reliable transportation to and from the worksite and must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office. No relocation assistance or stipend is provided.
