About the role#
As an Actuarial Intern at AAA Life Insurance Company, you will gain hands-on experience by working alongside credentialed teammates. This role involves contributing to projects within our Product Development and Innovation or Valuation and Financial Reporting teams. You will receive mentorship and training to build both technical and professional skills while working from our Livonia office.
What you'll do#
- Write, test, and validate data using Excel, Access, or other programming languages.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting and review your own work to ensure accuracy.
- Use established procedures and recommend updates when you find ways to improve them.
- Conduct competitor studies and product research.
- Use MG-ALFA software to build financial models.
- Gather and validate data for pricing assumptions and asset-liability grouping.
- Run experience studies and assist with the calculation and validation of statutory, GAAP, and tax reserves.
- Support the month-end reporting process and financial statement preparation.
- Update and run financial forecasting models.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Completion of at least one Society of Actuaries exam is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel.
- Ability to program and test in a database environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others and meet deadlines with limited supervision.
- A focus on reviewing results for accuracy and learning new systems quickly.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship based in Livonia, Michigan.
- The position operates on a rolling term basis.
