About the role#
617MediaGroup is hiring a paid intern to join our client service team in the New York metropolitan area. This role is for those interested in communications, marketing, or journalism who want to support social justice causes and campaigns. You will work closely with account teams to manage media relations and digital initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Draft press releases and media advisories.
- Build and update media and influencer lists.
- Conduct daily news scans, track social media mentions, and perform competitive research.
- Assist with social and digital media campaigns.
- Research speaking opportunities and industry awards.
- Join media briefings and weekly account calls.
- Prepare press kits, clip books, and mailings.
- Handle administrative tasks as needed.
- Identify and lead proactive pitching opportunities for clients.
What you'll need#
- Strong writing skills and an interest in current news and market trends.
- Previous internship experience in PR or marketing is preferred.
- Familiarity with digital organizing tactics like email, text, and social media campaigning.
- A problem-solving mindset and an organized approach to your work.
- Interest in professional photography.
- A valid driver license and a personal vehicle with a valid inspection sticker for work events.

- Location: New York, NY.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20.36 per hour.
- Commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: Occasional night and weekend availability is required.
