About the role#
As a Maps Intern, you will contribute to, build, and own portions of the Zipline Maps stack. You will work on an extensible path planning service used for daily flight operations and develop services for data generation, transformation, and access. Your work will involve adapting theoretical path planning algorithms to real world problems and understanding how spatial data enables routing in the air.
What you'll do#
- Build services that generate routes and spatial planning artifacts.
- Use tools to visualize and evaluate geospatial features that impact serviceability.
- Collaborate with teams to make spatial data accessible.
- Improve planning algorithms to make routing fast, safe, and reliable.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least the second year of undergraduate studies. Masters and PhD students are also eligible.
- Strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.
- Deep understanding of algorithmic optimization.
- Proficient coding and programming skills.
- Understanding of automated testing practices.
- Experience supporting or developing novel algorithmic research is preferred.
- Experience with spatial data is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term is for Summer 2027, running from May or June through August or September.
- This position is paid.
