About the role#
Ziegler Caterpillar offers an internship program for students pursuing careers in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics. You will gain hands-on experience by working directly with senior technicians in a shop environment. This role provides an opportunity to develop mechanical skills while supporting our work in the agriculture, construction, and mining industries.
What you'll do#
- Assist in troubleshooting and repairing heavy diesel engines.
- Help repair construction and agriculture equipment.
- Learn from senior-level technicians through mentorship.
- Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year degree program for diesel engine mechanics, construction, or agricultural equipment mechanics.
- Maintenance of good grades and positive recommendations from your instructors.
- A positive attitude and a desire to work as a team player.
- Your own set of mechanic tools.
- The ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and push or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, kneeling, crawling, and climbing.

- Location: Columbus, MN.
- Schedule: Part-time, rolling internship.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Note: This position is safety-sensitive and requires a drug test.
