About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the software development team for Zebra Handheld Mobile Computers. You will work on Android OS development and create applications to demonstrate value-added features. The program includes training, mentorship, and opportunities to participate in social and professional events throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Interface with Android system APIs and platform frameworks to capture real-time CPU, battery, and thermal sensor metrics.
- Build high-efficiency on-device data logging pipelines to compile structured datasets for machine learning training.
- Support demo application development by integrating RFID, Vision AI, Barcode Scanner, and Camera into Android applications.
- Architect LLM-powered agents to automate workflow parsing, extract system insights from unstructured data, and auto-validate developer API integrations.
- Manage team-based work assignments and practice interpersonal skills through regular follow-up activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with an anticipated graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Authorization to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.
- Strong foundations in Android Systems and low-level C++ or Java.
- Proficiency in writing clean Python, C++, and Java or Kotlin code.
- Experience with LLM orchestration, agentic frameworks, and using standard machine learning libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
- Ability to communicate effectively and a commitment to ethical behavior and confidentiality.

- Location: Holtsville, New York.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with an expectation of at least 3 days of in-office attendance per week.
- Employment: Full-time and paid.
