About the role#
We are looking for a machine learning researcher to join our team in South San Francisco. You will help train the next generation of chemistry models to enable the synthesis of previously inaccessible molecules. This role involves working across the full modeling stack, from data acquisition with lab staff to deploying models directly into experimental workflows.
What you'll do#
- Train models of various shapes and sizes.
- Deploy models directly into experimental workflows.
- Build and maintain infrastructure and abstractions for training a diverse set of models.
- Maintain data pipelines and handle system tasks like parallelism strategies and quantization.
- Collaborate with lab staff on data acquisition.
What you'll need#
- Strong fundamentals in machine learning with a deep understanding of modern empirical and experimental ML.
- Experience developing novel model training techniques or working with novel tasks and datasets.
- Experience in a startup, research group, or competition team where you had significant ownership.
- Familiarity with PyTorch or other machine learning frameworks.
- Knowledge of basic machine learning theory.
- Enthusiasm for working across the entire machine learning stack.
- Comfort working across disciplines and learning unfamiliar technical areas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and excitement about chemistry.
- A strong bias toward building, testing, and learning from real systems.
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Ability to work safely in an active chemistry laboratory and around scientific equipment.
