About the role#
The Early Childhood Intern supports the daily operations of our childcare programs in Wilmington. You will work under the direct observation of an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children. This is a paid, full-time opportunity with a rolling start date.
What you'll do#
- Supervise children, classrooms, and assigned activities while following safe, developmentally appropriate practices.
- Provide daily care, including feeding, diapering, and toileting.
- Support children during mealtimes, transitions, and instructional periods.
- Assist staff in planning and leading daily activities to help children learn.
- Observe children and document their progress and development.
- Use positive behavior management techniques.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 16 years of age.
- Completion of at least 15-clock hours of quality assured training in early care and education OR at least three college credits in child development or early childhood education.
- Ability to complete a physical and tuberculosis screening within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to pass a criminal history, child abuse, and adult abuse background check.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Preferred: Multi-lingual skills or prior experience working with youth in a group setting.

- Pay: $15.50 per hour.
