About the role#
The Human Resources Student assists with daily HR operations and administrative tasks. You will gain exposure to recruitment, onboarding, employee records management, and health and safety compliance within the transportation industry. This is a part-time position designed for a student returning to their studies for the Winter 2027 semester.
What you'll do#
- Screen resumes and shortlist candidates for open positions.
- Conduct initial phone interviews.
- Complete reference checks for potential hires.
- Support recruitment coordination including interviews, road tests, and training.
- Assist with new hire onboarding and orientation for drivers and office staff.
- Maintain and update employee files.
- Handle data entry, reporting, and HR metrics.
- Support health and safety initiatives, training coordination, and compliance documentation.
- Respond to basic employee inquiries.
- Assist with HR projects, policy updates, and general clerical duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Human Resources, Business Administration, or related post-secondary program.
- Status as a student returning to studies for the Winter 2027 semester.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
