Research Internship/Co-op

About the role#

Waabi is seeking interns and co-op students to join our Research team. This is a full-time, paid position that offers the opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers focused on an AI-first approach to safe, scalable self-driving technology.

What you'll do#

• Lead or contribute to AI research projects by developing new algorithms for autonomous vehicles in areas including perception, prediction, motion planning, controls, simulation, mapping, localization, and core AI.
• Design, implement, train, and optimize novel algorithms for use on self-driving vehicles and production systems.
• Collaborate with a team of researchers and engineers to advance self-driving capabilities.
• Have the opportunity to publish work at top machine learning, computer vision, and robotics conferences, contribute to the company blog, and release open-source projects.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s, MS, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience in research or software engineering through internships, work experience, coding competitions, or academic projects and papers.
• A strong quantitative background with coursework or practical knowledge in linear algebra, calculus, and probability.
• Proficiency in reading and writing code in Python and/or C++.
• A passion for self-driving technology and solving complex technical problems.

• Modality: This position supports both remote and on-site work.
