Truck Driver Student

About the role#

As a Truck Driver Student at XPO, you will participate in a structured training program designed to help you obtain your CDL-A and gain on-the-job experience as an LTL Driver. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Montgomery, New York, that prepares you for a career in the transportation industry.

What you'll do#

• Attend training sessions to obtain a CDL-A license.
• Gain hands-on experience working as an LTL Driver under supervision.
• Perform required vehicle inspections according to FMCSR section 396.13.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with FMCSR, DOT, and company policies.
• Load and unload freight using a forklift as needed.
• Verify and complete all required documentation and reports.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and maintain communication with service center personnel.
• Safely operate equipment, including tractor-trailer combinations and converter dollies, while lifting freight and performing physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and reaching.

What you'll need#

• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• A valid state-issued driver's license held for at least 12 months.
• A CDL-A permit by the first day of class.
• Ability to obtain double/triple trailers, tanker, and HAZMAT endorsements within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to initiate a TSA fingerprint-based background check by the second week of class.
• A safe driving record and history.
• Ability to pass a DOT drug test, with no prior positive tests or refusals in the last 3 years.
• Ability to pass a company-paid DOT physical and pre-hire test.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
