About the role#
This internship provides on the job training for students currently enrolled in college or technical programs. It runs alongside your schooling or during summer breaks. You will gain hands-on experience by working in different shop departments to understand our operations. This is a paid, full-time position that requires flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends as needed.
What you'll do#
- Assist in your assigned shop area and complete miscellaneous tasks as directed.
- Maintain accurate records and complete service reports.
- Safely rig or hook components for lifting.
- Participate in and occasionally lead safety meetings.
- Provide daily progress updates to your supervisor and dispatchers.
- Answer telephone calls and assist with special projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a diesel mechanics, machining, welding, or hydraulics program.
- Good standing with your educational institution.
- A mechanical background and the ability to solve complex problems.
- Proficiency in reading parts books, service manuals, and electrical or hydraulic schematics.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive email.
- Ability to read service literature, use measuring tools, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments with dirt, grease, noise, and varying temperatures.
