About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Water Resources Engineering Intern for our Southeast Water Team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This summer internship program runs for 12 weeks, starting in May 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to develop technical and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Water Resources Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation and complete assigned training.
- Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Civil or Environmental Engineering undergraduate program with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in civil engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and CAD software such as AutoCAD or OpenRoads is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering principles.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience.

- This position is based on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- The role is full-time for the summer 2027 term.
