About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Traffic Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 program in New York City. This 12-week position offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real engineering projects. You will participate in our Developing Professionals Network, which provides mentorship and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of traffic engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Help collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct and exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Demonstrated interest in traffic engineering and transportation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office (specifically Excel), and traffic modeling software like HCS, Synchro, or Vissim is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.

- Compensation: $19 to $30 per hour.
