About the role#
WSP is looking for a full-time Traffic Engineering Intern for our Valhalla, New York office. This is a 12-week summer position starting in May 2027. You will work alongside senior staff to gain hands-on experience and participate in our professional development network.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of traffic engineering.
- Assist with research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Manage and collect project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding conduct and resources.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Age 18 or older.
- Interest in traffic engineering and a desire to grow your skills.
- Strong communication skills to share ideas with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A history of maintaining workplace safety.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Synchro, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Prior campus leadership or internship experience is a plus.

- Compensation: $19 to $30 per hour.
