About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Structural Engineering (Substation) Intern for the Summer 2027 program. This 12-week internship offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on power and energy projects. You will gain exposure to real-world engineering tasks while building professional connections through the Developing Professionals Network.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Structural Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow WSP policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in Structural Engineering.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- A proven track record of workplace safety and the ability to follow health and harassment policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
