About the role#
WSP is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern for a full-time position in Herndon, Virginia. This role is part of the Summer 2027 internship program. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills. This is a paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to develop your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of structural engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies and maintain ethical decision-making regarding resources.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, masters, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in structural engineering.
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A history of upholding workplace safety standards.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.

- Compensation: $19 to $30 per hour.
