About the role#
The Austin Bridge Team is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position based in Austin, Texas. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills. The program lasts 12 weeks, beginning May 17, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks while learning structural principles.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design analysis.
- Use CADD software to support design efforts.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and project calculations.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Exercise ethical decision-making and follow company safety policies.
What you'll need#
- Current or incoming graduate student in an accredited Civil Engineering program with a focus on Structural Engineering.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Completion of foundational courses, including Intro to Engineering and an Engineering Drafting course.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoad is preferred.
- An EIT license is preferred.
- Prior internship or leadership experience is a plus.
