About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship within the Power and Energy team. You will join the 12-week Summer Internship Program, which is scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027. This role offers exposure to real projects while working alongside senior staff. You will also have access to the Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks to build your technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training tasks.
- Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Strong interest in Mechanical Engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills for interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety and the ability to follow health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Masters or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferred: Prior internship or campus leadership experience.
