About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering intern to join our Power and Energy team for the Summer 2027 term. This 12-week internship offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will gain exposure to professional engineering practices while developing your technical and ethical skills.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks.
- Learn basic principles of Mechanical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Adhere to company policies regarding conduct, safety, and the use of resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety standards.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Masters or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferred: Prior internship experience or campus leadership involvement.

- Location: Meridian, Idaho.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12-week program starting May 17, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
