About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This 12-week program begins on May 17, 2027, and offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real power and energy projects. You will build your technical and professional skills while participating in mentorship and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of electrical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct and related safety and ethics policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A proven track record of workplace safety.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other 2D CAD software is preferred.
- Prior campus leadership or internship experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Columbus or New Albany, Ohio.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided for this role.
