About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern for our Syracuse, New York office. This 12-week summer program begins on May 17, 2027, and offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff. You will gain exposure to real projects while participating in mentorship and networking opportunities through our Developing Professionals Network.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of electrical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to all internal policies.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A demonstrated interest in electrical engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and office software.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
