About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 within the Traffic Engineering team. You will work on transportation infrastructure projects, including traffic signal design, roadway lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems. The program runs for 12 weeks, beginning in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Learn basic principles of traffic and electrical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and design calculations.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Help maintain project documentation.
- Complete required training and follow company policies regarding conduct and resources.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, master's, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing and office software.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Preferred experience includes Microsoft Office, CADD, GIS, Adobe, or Bluebeam products.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.

- This role is based on-site in Lexington, Kentucky, or Louisville, Kentucky.
- This is a full-time position.
