About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship based in Maitland, Florida. You will join the WSP team for a 12-week program starting in May 2027. This role provides exposure to transmission line engineering projects while working alongside senior staff and mentors.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the principles of transmission line engineering.
- Assist with design for new installations, upgrades, relocations, and fiber optic enhancements.
- Use PLS CADD software and aerial imagery to map transmission routes.
- Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
- Gain experience in model design, material procurement, and the creation of construction drawings.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding conduct and resources.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate or master program for Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- A strong interest in transmission lines and a desire to develop your engineering skills.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company health and safety policies.
- Coursework in structural analysis, steel or concrete design, soil mechanics, foundation design, or surveying is preferred.
- Previous engineering design, drafting experience, or campus leadership roles are a plus.
