About the role#
WSP is seeking a Civil Engineering intern for our North Carolina Transportation team. This full-time, paid position is based in our Greensboro office for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on transportation projects including interstate reconstruction, interchange design, and pedestrian infrastructure. This is a 12-week program starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and ethical skills.
- Learn core principles of civil engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Manage project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies regarding conduct, safety, and resource management.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate civil engineering or related program with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Interest in transportation design and a desire to develop professional skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction from project leadership.
- Proficiency with technical writing, spreadsheets, and office software.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Experience with Microstation or OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
- Prior leadership experience or internships are a plus.
