About the role#
WSP is hiring a Civil Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 program. This full-time position provides exposure to real-world projects within our Bridge and Infrastructure Inspection Group. You will work alongside senior staff to gain hands-on experience and develop technical, social, and ethical skills. The program lasts 12 weeks and is scheduled to start on May 17, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support various engineering tasks and complete assigned training.
- Learn basic principles of bridge and civil engineering, including inspection techniques.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation.
- Exercise responsible decision-making and follow all company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Interest in structural or bridge engineering.
- Ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a Master or PhD program.
- Preferred: Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation, and Microsoft Office.
- Preferred: Prior internship or campus leadership experience.
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in Worcester, Massachusetts, with additional availability in Boston, Massachusetts, and Glastonbury, Connecticut.
- This is a paid, full-time summer internship.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
