About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern to join the Transportation and Infrastructure team in Tacoma, Washington. This position is part of a 12-week summer program starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff to gain hands-on experience on real projects.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Civil Transportation Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of May 2028 or later.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of following workplace safety protocols.
- Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Excel is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Tacoma, WA.
- The role is full-time for the Summer 2027 term.
- Compensation ranges from $19 to $30 per hour.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided for this role.
