About the role#
WSP is looking for a part-time Civil Engineering Intern to join the team in Newark, New Jersey. This is a temporary position for the Winter 2027 term. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks.
- Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Help collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Follow WSP policies, including the Code of Conduct, and use company resources responsibly.
What you'll need#
- You must be 18 or older and actively enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Your anticipated graduation date must be May 2026 or later.
- You need authorization to work in the United States.
- Show a clear interest in Civil Engineering and Transportation.
- Have basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be capable of taking direction from managers and mentors.
- Maintain a record of workplace safety and follow health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.

- This role is located in Newark, New Jersey.
- This is an on-site position.
- This is a paid internship.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
- The expected pay range for this position is $19 to $30 per hour.
