About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 program based in Lisle, Illinois. This is a 12-week, on-site internship starting May 24, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to gain hands-on experience and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks.
- Learn basic principles of civil engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making.
- Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate, masters, or PhD program in civil engineering or a related field, with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Demonstrated interest in civil engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from leadership, mentors, and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Ability to abide by company health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- A valid driver's license.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
- Note that this role may require occasional travel and successful completion of a motor vehicle screening. You may also be subject to client-mandated drug and alcohol testing.
