About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Civil Engineering Intern for our Summer 2027 program. This is an on-site position based in Columbus, Ohio. You will work alongside senior staff on transportation projects including interstate reconstruction, interchange design, and pedestrian infrastructure. This is a paid, 12-week internship scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build technical and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Civil Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies regarding resources, conduct, and safety.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Interest in transportation design and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills and the ability to take direction from mentors and managers.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A track record of upholding workplace safety.
- Experience with Microstation or OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
