About the role#
WSP is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our North Carolina Transportation Team. This full-time, paid summer internship provides hands-on experience on major transportation projects, including interstate reconstruction and bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure design. You will work alongside senior staff in our Raleigh office as part of a 12-week program starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn foundational principles of Civil Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, cost estimates, and special provisions.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding ethics and conduct.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program for Civil Engineering or a related field with a graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Interest in Transportation Design and a desire to develop your skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company health and conduct policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience with Microstation or OpenRoads Designer is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
