About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. You will join the Bridge and Infrastructure Inspection Team to gain hands-on experience by working alongside senior staff on real-world projects. The role involves a mix of office work and field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Support bridge and infrastructure inspection projects.
- Assist with structural engineering tasks and inspections under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Prepare plans and sketches using Visio and MicroStation.
- Conduct project research and field work.
- Collect, organize, and maintain project documentation.
- Learn and apply basic structural engineering techniques and industry practices.
- Complete training for specific tasks and support engineering assignments to build technical and professional skills.
- Make responsible decisions regarding project resources and conduct.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Civil Engineering or related undergraduate program.
- Foundational knowledge or coursework in structural engineering principles.
- Physical ability to perform continuous field work, including working at heights, in confined spaces, and in or around water.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules based on project needs, including nights or weekends.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience with Visio, MicroStation, and AutoCAD is preferred.
- Previous internship experience, relevant coursework, or leadership in student organizations is a plus.
