About the role#
This summer internship offers college students training in insurance product lines and real-world underwriting practices. You will work with experienced professionals to learn how we manage risk and support our clients. This is a full-time, paid position designed for students interested in building a career in the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with daily operations, including quoting new business and processing renewals.
- Contribute to underwriting projects that impact company profitability.
- Shadow experienced underwriters to observe territory management and book-building strategies.
- Join field visits with Loss Control specialists to see how we evaluate risk in various business environments.
- Engage with agents to learn how underwriting decisions align with agency relationships.
- Participate in cross-functional experiences with the Claims, Accounting, Sales, and Loss Control departments.
- Take part in professional development, including mentoring and a final capstone presentation.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably Risk Management and Insurance, Business, or Mathematics.
- You have intermediate knowledge of personal computers.
- You possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- You work well in a team environment.
- You enjoy building relationships with clients and peers.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, in-office role based in either Madison, Wisconsin, or West Bend, Wisconsin.
- The internship takes place during the Summer of 2027.
