About the role#
This paid, full-time internship offers an 11-week immersion into Werner Enterprises during Summer 2027. You will gain real-world experience in logistics and supply chain management through dedicated job training, mentorship, and networking opportunities. The role includes a Summer Project Proposal where you will address a specific business need.
What you'll do#
- Manage and support a fleet of professional drivers to improve productivity, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee driver assignments from start to finish and manage in-transit progress.
- Work with load planners and account management teams to find optimal transportation solutions.
- Use internal platforms to maximize freight efficiency and reduce dwell time.
- Track operational metrics including driver production, deadhead, and retention.
- Develop and present a comprehensive Summer Project Proposal.
- Ensure high-quality customer service throughout the shipping process.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and the ability to build interpersonal relationships.
- An eagerness to learn about logistics and supply chain management.

- Location: Omaha, Nebraska.
- Work Modality: On-site with some remote and off-site opportunities.
